Meaning reframing is asking what else a behavior could mean.  For example, I had a friend who told me once that his daughter was too bossy and demanding.  I said, “Boy it must give you a feeling of great responsibility to know that you are raising a daughter with all the seeds to become a future leader.”  My friend looked surprised and then said, “I guess I should learn to channel her energy in a more positive direction.”
