My Scope of Practice

Every hypnotherapist should use hypnosis within the scope of his or her practice.  In my case, my training is exclusively in the following fields: Hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Emotional Freedom Techniques, and Time Line Therapy ®.  I am not trained or licensed to practice medicine or psychology.  That means that I practice within the scope of my training, so I only work with clients on areas related to vocational and avocational self improvement: such as personal or business goal success, weight loss goals, and habits like pornography or caffeine addictions, etc.  In certain areas, where I have specialized training, I also will work with clients if their licensed medical doctor or psychologist first provide me with a written referral.

That means I will need a written medical or mental health referral for anyone with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or seizure disorders—among other conditions—to avoid using hypnosis in the presence of a medical or mental health contraindication.  Hypnosis should in no way replace proper medical or mental health care and is intended only as an adjunct to proper care under a licensed provider.
