Many people wonder how many hypnosis sessions it will take to stop smoking.
The short answer is that it varies from person to person because no two smokers are the same. But, in general, it is safe to say that most people will need three to four sessions spread out over two weeks. Some need less and some need more.
For example, I was working with a husband and wife about six months ago. The wife came in first and she pre-paid for four sessions, which is a pretty standard stop smoking program for smokers here in Utah.
After the first session, she felt so great that she brought her husband to her second session and said, “Do for him what you did for me.”
She continued by saying something like this: “I haven’t craved a cigarette in the last three days. And as long as I keep on doing what you’ve taught me to do with the hypnosis, I feel like I am on the top world–I don’t need any more help, so can my husband use my remaining sessions?”
So I started seeing her husband for her remaining three sessions.
Her husband ended up using all three of her remaining sessions and purchased an additional four sessions. And he needed each and every one of those seven sessions to quit and stay quit.
So here in one family we see two smokers who were very different in their response to hypnosis to stop smoking. Both quit smoking, yet one needed one session and the other needed seven.
Different people have different responses to hypnosis to stop smoking. In general, most people respond very very well.
